Prepare For Your Visit: Helpful Information

How to Prepare

  • Sign our Liability Waiver. (Note: if you purchased seats in a class or experience for more than just you, please make sure that everyone you purchased for has also signed the liability waiver.)
  • Arrive on time for your class.  We recommend that you arrive a few minutes early, and if you are more than 15 minutes late, you need to reschedule.
  • Please remember to bring your water bottles to help us in our efforts to consume less plastic.
  • For all classes you should wear closed-toe shoes (no heels or flip flops, etc.) Long hair must be tied back.
  • For all classes you should also wear a cotton shirt (long sleeve may be preferable if weather is not hot) and cotton pants.
  • Make sure you and your group meet the minimum age requirements.

Keeping Cool in The Hotshop

Stay Hydrated

  • Arrive at the start of your rental or class already hydrated. This can be achieved by sipping fluids steadily in the days leading up and drinking an additional 14-20 oz a couple hours prior.
  • Drink 5-7 oz of water every 15-20 minutes. Drink water even if you are not thirsty.
  • Avoid alcohol, coffee, tea and caffeinated sodas which can dehydrate you.

Wear Proper Clothing

  • Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing to allow air flow and prevent overheating.

Take Breaks

  • Take frequent rest breaks in a shaded or cooler area to allow your body to cool down.
  • Pace yourself and slow down if needed. Know your limits for working safely in the heat.

Other Precautions

  • Use cooling methods like damp rags around the neck.
  • Be alert for signs of heat illness in yourself and coworkers like dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps.

The key is to stay hydrated, take breaks to cool down, wear proper clothing, use cooling techniques, and be aware of heat illness symptoms when working in hot conditions.

Picking Up Your Glass

  • All glass work will be ready for pick up one week after your class unless otherwise notified. You will NOT be notified when your work is ready for pick up. Pick Up Hours are Weekends 10am-4pm. Work will be bagged and labeled with date, your name, and what you made. All work will be on the pick-up shelves at the front entrance—please ask a staff member to help!
  • We will hold your work for up to 3 months

Food and Drink

  • You are welcome to cater outside food/drink into the studio.  We just ask that no one drink alcohol before arriving. We do provide water.
  • If you are planning to cater your event, please let us know so that we can set up tables and chairs for your guests. We also have a courtyard with picnic tables when the weather is suitable.
