The Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI) seeks passionate and skilled glass artists to join our San Jose, California team! As a non-profit, public-access glass studio, we're on a mission to share the captivating art of glassmaking with our community, and we need your expertise to help us ignite creativity and inspire future artisans.
Nestled in the heart of History Park, our 6,000 sq ft studio is a haven for glass enthusiasts. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including a hot shop, a flameworking area, a fusing studio, and a cold shop. We offer a diverse range of classes, from 2-hour experiences to in-depth courses for both beginners and advanced students, all designed to immerse participants in the mesmerizing world of glass art.
The ideal BAGI staff instructor we're looking for possesses the following:
- 2-4 years of dedicated experience in hotshop, flameshop, fusing, or coldworking
- A burning passion for glass arts
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn about non-profit art center operations
As a BAGI instructor, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Engage in one-on-one interactions with students
- Guide participants in creating their glass art pieces
- Educate and inspire through hands-on experiences
- Contribute to the smooth operation of our studios
- Be part of a warm and welcoming team
We offer competitive compensation at $35 per hour and flexible scheduling options, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. As a bonus, staff members enjoy a 20% discount on studio rentals to support their artistic endeavors.
