Additive Techniques (Glassblowing 3)
Additive Techniques (Glassblowing 3)
This class is full or not available.
Prerequisites: Intro to Glassblowing
Instructor: Henrik Jorgensen
Glassblowing 3 aims to build on the foundations of Introduction to Glassblowing, and Glassblowing 2 by incorporating decorative techniques. Working exclusively with clear furnace glass, students will learn from a selection of the following topics: how to apply various types of handles, wraps, and bits. This class will apply the basic principles of heat/mass learned in previous classes and use the basic forms as a canvas for applying decorations. A primary goal of this class is equipping the student with an understanding of particular heat management to retain texture and details in the decorations. Students will be challenged to manage both on-center and off-center or asymmetrical objects. Glassblowing is a team activity, all students will work with each other to achieve these goals. It is highly encouraged that students take notes during class.

How to choose: Glass Experience, or Studio Class?
-
If you’ve never interacted with art glass before and just want a casual introduction to the medium, you’ll want to book a Glass Experience. These are half-day sessions that are a lot of fun, whether solo or with a group.
These make for great team-building events, and we also have seasonal experiences where you can make pieces that are season or holiday-specific.
If you have a Groupon for BAGI, then the Glass Experience is for you—book here.
-
If you’re ready to dig deep and start on the right path to becoming a proficient glass artist, you’ll want to book a Studio Class.
