1-Day Beginning Stained Glass Workshop: Soldering (4hrs)

Learn the basics of stained glass and create your own unique glass piece, ready to take home at the end of class!

We start with a brief history of stained glass, then a review of safety and materials, followed by an overview of the tools.

For this class we will utilize “scrap glass”, the smaller cut offs left over from larger sheets. We will wrap each piece of glass in copper foil, then apply lead-free solder with an iron, followed by cleaning and polishing the finished piece.

Each student will take home a beautiful sun catcher of their very own! This is a fun and quick introduction to the techniques used to create Tiffany style stained glass windows. Intermediate and returning students will receive additional instruction on decorative soldering and incorporating wire.
