Courtney McCloskey: Mosaics with a Little Heat
From March 20th to March 29th, Courtney McCloskey will be visiting the Bay Area Glass Institute to teach Introduction to Mosaics and her new class, "Mosaics with a Little Heat"! In Introduction to Mosaics, students will learn basic techniques for cutting glass, adhering, and creating shapes to compose unique designs. Students will create their own small glass mosaic that they will be able to take home the day of the class.
Mosaics with A Little Heat is a new class to BAGI, its an inspiring four-day mosaics intensive with small fused glass elements. You will learn the basic techniques such as cutting glass, adhering, creating shapes and grouting to compose unique designs. Students start the class creating glass pieces that will be placed into a kiln to (fuse) or laminate into one flat piece of glass. The rest of the week we will focus on incorporating these fused glass pieces into a mosaic; using small pieces glued into place to make a larger composition. No previous experience is required for either of these classes, they are open to all ability levels.
