Einar & Jamex De La Torre: Devitrified Concepts - Crystalized Narratives

We are honored to welcome Einar and Jamex De la Torre to the Bay Area Glass Institute to teach their class "Devitrified Concepts - Crystalized Narratives" and to share their exciting and vibrant style of glasswork, as well as their unique perspectives, with our community here in San Jose once again. On Friday, February 28th, BAGI will host Community Night featuring the De la Torre Brothers where they will hold a live glassblowing demonstration the hotshop and share their artistic journey in a brief Artist Talk.

Get Tickets for The De la Torre Brothers' Community Night!

"Devitrified Concepts - Crystalized Narratives" is a 5 day-intensive hotshop class which will take place from February 26th to March 2nd.This class will mainly focus on hot sculpted glass with a strong emphasis on bit working. Drawing will be encouraged to convey ideas and consider building techniques.

We will start each day with a demonstration that will show the translation of the narrative concept to the physical outcome. We will also highlight the use of color cane to draw directly on the glass surface. Given the limited days of the course we will focus on the hot glass shop - but we will also talk about techniques in mounting, glues and mix media use, as time allows.
